Getting to Boracay
Boracay is surrounded by hundreds of islands in the heart of the Philippines, and even though the capital is not far from Manila, you still have to take a plane to get here. All airports come to one of two airports: Kalibo (large, additional built-in international hub) and Catiklan (small, nearest airport adjacent to the island).
No airport is hearty in Boracay, but, when you land, you have to trap the ferry from the Catiklan Getty Port. The ride lasts 15 minutes, and charges a whole lot $ 5 round-ride.
If that sounds like too many paintings, don’t forget to book a room at a hotel that has inter-island transfers. T + L’s favorite Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa, for example, will shuttle guests by speedboat to the hotel’s non-public jetty from Catiklan.
Choosing the right beach
Every day of your holiday in Boracay is a stroll around the beach. From the lazy floating in the crystal clean waters to the island-heavy ritual of watching the sunset, life in Boracay is truly on the beach. But everyone has a unique vibe.
Crowd-desirable white beach
Of the island’s 13 beaches, White Beach is known for its effortless maximum. On the west coast of the island, it is two and a half miles wide, and is divided into three “stations”. Most of the island’s shopping malls, nightclubs and lodges are concentrated here and as a result, it is a very active place. Our favorite element? Extensive, shallow sandbags that extend 200 feet from the shore, meaning you can get away without much doubt and yet the water is waist deep.
